Seaweed, acquazol, glycerin, crepalina, LED, acrylic, robotized insect.
Each of these works consists of a glowing sphere that hangs from the ceiling and lights up the space where they are displayed like Japanese lanterns. They are created from a substance based on marine algae. The two pieces have a greenish-golden light that highlights the scratches and marks on the surface of each of them. Anicka mixes elements with robotic elements. Inside the spheres there are some animatronic insects, which establish a game of shadows and a buzz that give a sensation of movement to the work.
According to the artist: "The organic shapes of these sculptures are a mutant play on Isamu Noguchi's iconic Akari lamp, while the scratches resemble the work of abstract expressionist artists such as Cy Twombly".
