Addressing the hard-edge striped compositions by Ellsworth Nelly and the dysfunctional graphics of the television test patterns, he doubles the austere and iconic elements with a DIY flavour. The highly intense colours in the solid bars change and collapse in an inevitable decomposition that frames utopian ideals such as cracks and wrinkles and customises a universal symbol to accommodate and reflect an underlying cultural anxiety.
