Montoya studied at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and The Cooper Union in New York. She holds a BA in sculpture from the Chelsea College of Art in London and a Master’s in sculpture from the Royal College of Art. She has also received several awards, scholarships, and selections.
She is an artist who enjoys experimenting. She works with both traditional materials and new technologies, sometimes combining them. She creates large sculptures, paying particular attention to small details that captivate the viewer. This disparity in scales and techniques is evident throughout her work.
Recently, she became the first winner of the inaugural residency of the CON Artistic Residencies program, an initiative of the National Cancer Research Center, which will fund a six-month stay to create one or more works inspired by cancer research.
