Cattelan is an artist who began to be internationally recognized in the 1990s for his homophonous and ironic works that incite and challenge contemporary value systems. He received an honorary doctorate in Sociology from the University of Trento (Italy) in 2004 and the Arnold-Bode award from the Kunstverein Kassel (Germany) in 2005 and the Quadriennale di Roma award in 2009 among others.
His works have been exhibited at: at the Bienheim Palace. United Kingdom La Monnale in Paris. France; Beyeler Foundation, Riehan, Switzerland; Whitechapel Gallery, London; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; The Menil Collection, Houston, Texas; DESTE Foundation for Contemporary Art, Athens, Greece; Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria and Tate Modern, London, England.
