Lives and works in Spain.
Nicolás is an artist graduated at the School of Arts in his hometown and at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona, where he exhibited for the first time in 2008. Since then, his artistic career has positioned him as one of the most promising artists of the current Spanish art scene.
His work is characterized by the varied formats and medium in which he shows his work. These formats and media reflect a character that is more lyrical than illustrative and are more linked to abstract language than to figurative language. The way in which Nicolás intervenes on paper denotes an obsessive need to determine the limits of the medium itself and of the space that his arms can cover. He has a certain inclination for that introspection that keeps him isolated, concerned with nothing more than what happens behind the doors of his studio. Interested in finding a perhaps closer link with the word, the result of his work goes through a poetic outburst that is often elusive, difficult to explain. His exhibitions include: The Divine Comedy, Sala Amós Salvador, 2014, Logroño, La Rioja. Ornament=crime? Bombas Gens Center d'Art, 2017, Valencia. Awarded the DKV collection prize during the Estampa 2018 fair. Nicolás Ortigosa: Works 2002-2019, Bombas Gens Center d'Art. Curated by Vicent Todolí and Nuria Enguita. Individual exhibition at the MPA Gallery (Moisés Pérez de Albéniz) Drawings and engravings. 2015-2020. Hyperspaces, Bombas Gens Center d'Art, collective exhibition, 2020, Valencia. Curated by Julia Castelló, Nuria Enguita, Vicent Todolí.
