Project series for abandoned prisión. Book and box. 3 photographs and text, inkjet printing on cotton paper, 12 wall fragments on transparent fabric, 13 wall fragments on black fabric, iron.
In the most profound of the cells an iconographic system is enclosed, which determines guidelines, values, and conducts. On the surface of its walls, we find a graphic chronicle of life in prison. The Cell-books series centers not only on the recovery of architectonical details, but mainly on elements, which mark identity (traces, signs, writings, drawings) and convert each cell into a unique space, whose walls become the projection-surface of the thoughts of those who have lived there.
Departing from the idea of recovering the marks and graphical expressions left on the walls, 7 unique copies are produced by detaching mural fragments with black and transparent canvas.
The content of the books is completed by a group of photographs that provide information about the intervened space. The contents of each book are enclosed in a cover-container made from the iron door of each cell.
