Lives and works in his hometown.
Renato Leotta is an artist who is attracted to natural phenomena and finds inspiration in the moon, stars, ocean, tides and plants. These elements are very common in romantic poetry and Leotta uses them metaphorically and allegorically in his work. His focus is observing and capturing the landscape through different media, which allows him to identify and represent images that have a universal character, even if they are related to a specific time and space. By presenting these images without focusing on narrative, Leotta avoids clichés and offers a unique visual experience to the viewer.
In 2022 he participated in the 17th Istanbul Biennale and Luci D'Artista with an installation for a project in collaboration with the city of Turin. These opportunities allowed him to showcase his work and contribute to artistic dialogue in those specific contexts.
Some of his solo exhibitions: Mondo, Museo Archeologico del Reale, Palazzo Biscari, Catania (2021); Renato Leotta, Magazzino Art Foundation and Casa Italiana Zerilli, NY (2019); Eine Sandsammlung, Kunsthalle St. Gallen (2018); Piccola Patria, Galleria Fonti, Naples (2015) among others.
