New Enter Image V, 2017

Author: Miriam Bäckström

Tapestry, Trevira Cs, silk and wool. 286x388 cm. Unique work.

This work belongs to the New Enter Image series, which are large-scale, suspended tapestries, in which photography, textiles, and architecture are being mixed. These tapestries are created from very high resolution photographic images, using a technique to produce the illusion of immense depth. The photographic image results in tapestries woven on computer controlled Jacquard looms. The photographic image is confused with the threads of the textile, achieving an overwhelming sensation in the viewer, as if the image were enveloping him.
