Acid and Nicotine, 2009

Author: Pavel Büchler

A set of eight series. Acid, heat from cigarettes and paper.

The artist uses car battery acid and processes it with the heat and smoke from a cigarette while drawing in ink. Büchler says that these drawings are the result of his attempt to recover the academic drawing skills he learned at the Czech art school he attended as a boy.

They are a tribute to the cultural icons of his time. The drawings are based on photographs of these personalities.
