The figures line up in a semi-circle around a covered object in the middle, over which a ghost seems to be hovering. Gerhard’s visual world swings back and forth between figuration and abstraction. Upon closer examination, the figures in this work appear to be distorted or out of focus, which emphasizes the vestiges of abstraction in its figurative motifs.
